As we get ready to start a new year with an even number, let’s take a look at 2023 in WRAPA
In 2023, WRAPA activities covered a range of exciting programmes that supported over 500,000 women and girls through multiple interventions. These activities carried a thread and linkage that improved Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), political inclusion, gender accountability, electoral reforms, and women’s social and economic empowerment. Additionally, these interventions amplified the voices of women and girls and increased their capacity to contribute to national development, network, organise and engage, demanding gender and political accountability.
Away from the programmes, WRAPA remained consciously committed to staff self-care, welfare and capacity building. Two retreats were conducted, achieving stronger bonding and improving mental health. This is evidenced by the quality delivery of programmes underlined by synergy and a collective spirit of performance above sel
The WRAPA activities were directly delivered in twenty-one (21) states of Nigeria, supported by multiple partnerships and generous grants from the MacArthur Foundation, Ford Foundation;EU-UN Women Spotlight Initiative, African Women Development Funds (AWDF), Malala Fund, UNICEF Nigeria, EU-ACT British Council, and individuals.

WRAPA has deep appreciation for all its partners who contributed directly and indirectly to its success in 2023. Key are members of the institutions of faith and culture and the teeming beneficiaries of its services who are gradually turning into active gender change agents for social norm shifts in their families and communities.
Kudos to the Board of Trustees of WRAPA, whose sound and caring decisions sustained field and headquarters staff, reducing the hard and biting economic conditions since the COVID era. On the part of WRAPA staff, we have surmounted challenges together and we remain committed to serving better to achieve the mission of social justice to benefit women, their families, communities and the country at large.
