Women’s Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative (WRAPA) condemns the abduction of students from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga in Danko/Wasagu LGA, Kebbi State. This violent attack on young girls is a grave violation of their rights and yet another assault on the safety of learning spaces for children in Nigeria.
This incident reinforces the urgent need for stronger, more effective measures to protect schools, especially girls’ schools, where students continue to face the highest vulnerability to violence, exploitation, and disruption to their education.
WRAPA acknowledges the directive of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, calling for intensified and intelligence-led rescue operations. We urge security agencies to remain professional, coordinated, and uncompromising in their efforts to secure the safe return of the girls. The lives and dignity of these children must remain the highest priority.
As we condemn this heinous act, WRAPA joins the families and affected communities in prayer, asking Almighty God to grant mercy, protection, and swift deliverance, so that the abducted girls are returned unharmed.
We reiterate that every child, especially every girl, has the right to education in an environment free from fear, violence, and intimidation. Nigeria must renew its commitment to safeguarding this right and ensuring that no classroom becomes a battleground.
WRAPA stands in solidarity with the families, the GGCSS Maga community, and the people of Kebbi State. We call for immediate action and long-term investment in school safety and community protection systems to prevent further violations against our girls.
Our girls must be found. Our girls must be safe. Their future must never be compromised.
